The GeoInformation Group is proud to sponsor the 18th GISRUK conference (GISRUK 2010 website). As part of this commitment we have organised a challenge for the academic community utilising our recently launched large scale mapping suite UKMap.
UKMap
UKMap is a high quality geographic information database. There are many ways in which this information can be used and displayed. Here is your chance to get your hands on a one square kilometre area of the data based around UCL and use it within an innovative application of your choice.

Our challenge to you
Show us an innovative way in which UKMap can be used and displayed for the potential benefit of a specific market sector, organisation or research area.
For example:
- a clear thematic visualistion of land use and POI
- integration of UKMap with other datasets for measurement of social indicators
- effective 3D modelling
How to enter
Request the UKMap data and user guide here. You will then be sent a licence that you need to complete and return before receiving the link to download.
Email 500 words to describe your entry with any supporting material (for example, screenshots, URL, GIS database, Powerpoint, etc) to m.haklay@ucl.ac.uk, Dr. Muki Haklay: Senior Lecturer in GIS at UCL, by:

Prize
All entries will be judged and the winner announced during the GISRUK conference by Dr. Muki Haklay, UCL, and Alun Jones, The GeoInformation Group's MD. The winner will receive an award and a UKMap licence worth £5000 for use within the recipient's university department.
The GeoInformation Group is happy for you to publish the data you have created using UKMap in your own non-commercial project so long as you acknowledge The GeoInformation Group with "Copyright The GeoInformation Group 2010".
